Biography

Bishop Mettaous (1939–) is the abbot of the Syrian Monastery (Dayr al-Suryan), well-known for his books and lectures on the liturgy and rites of the Coptic Church. In the words of Bishop Moussa, he is “one of the prominent scholars of Ritual Theology in our contemporary era.”[1]Bishop Moussa, “Foreword,” in Bishop Mettaous, The Sacrament of Baptism (Al-Sourian Monastery), 7.
